Library Manager – Hendersonville Public Library of Sumner County
The Sumner County Library Board is seeking a Library Manager to oversee the daily operations of the Hendersonville Public Library of Sumner County, a Level 5 library with a service population of 92,580 located in Hendersonville, Tennessee.
Under the supervision of the Sumner County Library Board, this position is responsible for administering the safe and efficient operation of the library, overseeing development of relevant library materials and services, planning and implementing programs and services for patrons and the community, managing an annual budget of over $793,000, and supervising a staff of 8 full time and 9 part time employees.
The salary range for this position is $45,000-$49,000, dependent on experience, with a competitive benefits package that includes insurance and participation in the Tennessee Consolidated Retirement System.
Applicants for this position must exhibit initiative and good judgement, possess exceptional written and oral communication skills, and have the ability to establish effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, Friends of the Library, patrons, the public, and the Library Board to promote the library as a vital part of the community.
The successful applicant must have a Master’s Degree in Library Science and five years public library experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Library Managers without an MLS/MLIS will be required to earn a CPLM designation through the Tennessee State Library and Archives Public Library Management Institute. Experience should include a background in management, human resources, fundraising, finance, and an extensive knowledge of library services, operations, and collections.
